The history of Hampshire City Hotel - Hengelo: Around 1880 there was build a villa by the family Oostrom Meijers, at the same spot where you can find the hotel nowadays During the Second World War Hengelo was the centre of bombardments On the 6th and 7th of October 1944 the station and surrounding where completely devastated by the bombardments, they were bombarded because of the factories in the surrounding The villa probably didn´t survived those bombardments At the 14th of August 2001 the first pile of the hotel was beaten into the ground Almost 2 years later, at the 21th of March, the hotel was opened officially!
