The history of Hampshire City Hotel - Hengelo:

• Around 1880 there was build a villa by the family Oostrom Meijers, at the same spot where you can find the hotel nowadays
• During the Second World War Hengelo was the centre of bombardments
• On the 6th and 7th of October 1944 the station and surrounding where completely devastated by the bombardments, they were bombarded because of the factories in the surrounding
• The villa probably didn´t survived those bombardments
• At the 14th of August 2001 the first pile of the hotel was beaten into the ground
• Almost 2 years later, at the 21th of March, the hotel was opened officially!
